Interesting, but it rather sounds like it will be another standardised cruise ship with a fancy paint scheme like Queen Victoria rather than a true ocean liner like QE2 or QM2.
-
Agreed, and if it is build by Fincantieri it will not last fourty years either!!
-
Our QE 11 should tell them to bu--er of unless its built in a BRITISH ship yard and if we haven't got a yard big enough build one.

Cunard is owned by Carnival Corporation - American. And the skills to build a large cruise liner no longer exist within the UK. Essentially, like the Queen Victoria, the new Queen Elizabeth is just a marketing exercise.
-
"Furthermore we are delighted that Her Majesty The Queen has given her blessing to our calling this new Cunarder ‘Queen Elizabeth’, after our first vessel of that name. ”
Would it have made any difference if The Queen had not given her blessing ??
-
probably not. However one thing that I hope it doesnt turn out like, is a sister style of the QM2, having said that, if she looks like one of the Carnival boats then at least it will have some styling.
-
Colin, I think, sadly, that the days of the true ocean liner are gone, and any new ships will be of the glitz and glamour variety.

that glitz and glamour era probably started with the normandie as well
