Hi Guys,
What motors do you use for your tugs, especially tug towing etc.
Just about to build my first tug and I'm not sure about motors to use also whats the best props? Kort nozzles etc.

Model Motors Direct supply some superb motors for tugs.
What tug are you building and what size props?

Hi Shipmate60,
1/32 scale scratch build of an American towboat or as we call them pushertug. Two Kort nozzles 75mm or 95mm fixed with two operating rudders and four backing rudders, total six rudders.
Just started the drawings at the moment. But I'm deliberating on size. Currently at 1/32 it will be approximately 40inches long and 13inch beam three decks high.

Mobile Marine Models also have a new range of Tug motors and a Mayhem recommended range of Kort nozzles.

You will need a large can motor running about 3000 rpm, certainly no more than that.
A car fan motor on 6 volts should do as well.
