Title: Looking for a professional airbrusher
Post by: likeomg on March 20, 2021, 05:06:32 am

Hello all,

Im in need of the services of a professional airbrush artist, I have a large 1.85m catamaran I would like painted,

I've struggled with my various google searches to find someone willing to take it on..

The boat will require some minor prep work before painting but nothing major.

Im hoping to paint it in Valkyrie AMR colours,

These are some boats painted in the USA showing the type of work im looking for... (I did enquire into posting it stateside but it was $1000 for a similar sized boat from France to the USA and back..)

Im budgeting maybe £2k for a good paint job... might be off the mark but knowing what the prices are in the USA maybe not.

Anybody have a contact?

Hi,
Years ago I used a German model boat company to build and paint a HPR cat for me. The paint job was of Bud Light.
I am pleased with the finish. I do not think he does the painting himself.
Worth contacting him, worst you can say to each other is no.

Hi David, I did look down the German route, there's a gent by the name of "brusher Andy" in Berlin... the only thing is what I've seen from Brexit is massive customs fees etc. (I've been in Germany since January) so was ideally looking for someone in the UK...

Try looking for people who will do motorcycle custom painting - there's a few around, though I'm afraid that I don't have any specific recommendations.  Google is your friend!

Would you not fancy having a go at it yourself? You can get pretty good results from spray cans

Hi, I have sent a few emails out to people doing motorbikes / helmets have 2 promising leads and also one from a PM on here,

The boat is going to be the jewel of my collection, so looking for something a little more advanced than a quick rattle can paint job,

the colour I've chosen is "Satin Aston Martin Racing green" all in this build could run 10k so really looking for someone top notch when it comes to paint..

I will have renders in the next week or so.

I'm mid delivery of my current ship, we take ownership on 31st then off to Gibraltar for fuel, civitaveccia to pick up most of our hotel crew and then down to Haifa for vaccinations...

So hopefully into paint July time, build after that and plan to break the 100mph barrier with this one before I go back to sea later in the year, would also like to get the smaller one to 115mph its currently at 109 and that was on small props and unfavourable conditions..

My suggestion of having a go at painting it yourself was more about the enjoyment of doing it  and the satisfaction you get when its your own work rather than a quick cheap fix to save money.

No worries Andy,

I've painted a couple boats but my paint jobs dont tent to last too long with the type of boats im running... lots of high speed crashes at 70+

For anyone interested, these hulls are pretty rare, one has just came up in Germany RTR....
Identical build to mine other than ill be using 14s lipo per side. and 3060 engines with a lower KV
