Hi from the Isle of Wight,I have aquired a Graham TVR1ABB and what looks like a Cheddar/Stuart 3500 boiler (not a full steam plant I know ..) and am undecided on a suitable boat.While river cruisers seem very popular, I am thinking more on the lines of a Tid Tug. I have modeled most vehicles types in the past but have recently turned to live steam locomotives in various gauges/scales and fuel types, coal, gas and spirit.The Isle of Wight Model Engineers Society have a small boating pond, so when the Engine and Boiler became available, why not, I thought ...I would like suggestions for Kits, hulls or plans for a Tug or boat with more of a superstructure than a river boat. Not that I have anything against this type of boat, in fact I can see the attraction of having the steam plant on display and scale captain and passenger(s), so guidance would be greatly appreciated ..Thanks .. Hi suggest having a read through Mark T,s build of Anteo on this forum, he used the same engine. You mention a Tid Tug, if you build on from scratch you will be able to decide on the scale so that you have the displacement, length and breadth suitable for you boiler and engine. The boiler and engine you have will be quite long, so a larger scale will help, it also gives more room to get you hands in and around the steam plant since enevitably you will need to fiddle with it. This is a 8 cm3, which means it needs steam and, to my opinion, the boiler should not be less than 100 x 160 mm with a 75-90 mm propeller.
Besides this, it is a pity to hide a steam plant, this is why I would kindly suggest you to think about an open Launch like my Liva 1, freely inspired by Windermere ones : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-xE5ZgT90E (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-xE5ZgT90E) (She is the first boat of my collection).

Overner, Your description of the desired boat is pretty clear. You'll like the Anteo, but maybe here's an idea for a simpler project:

I posted this build log on the Tapatalk Steam forum for the build of my tug the St Andrew, made from drawings I got from Floataboat. He's a pretty tug, and I powered it successfully with Saito T2DR and 3" Cheddar boiler. I think this is a bigger engine than TVR1A, so maybe the boat I built is big too big for you (41", 27lb displacement) I had the plans printed oversize) but-- wait, there's more: Floataboat sells two versions of the St Andrew plan, and also has drawings if several other very nice tugs, Take at look at page 10 of their catalog:

Floataboat was able at no additional charge to print my drawings to the scale I specified. I can't say enough to compliment the drafting skill in these drawings.
My TVR1A is in an 38" open launch (at about 11 lb displacement) and this worked very well using a fiberglass hull molding. It was so close to the Steam launch Wear, that I bought those drawings from Floataboat as well (page 16) I had fun on this project:

But I did wind up using a 3" boiler. You might say the canopy is superstructure, ??
