I have had a Look at Meridienne Exhibitions website . There is no mention of the 2021 model boat show. Saying that they only go up to October 2021 on there website

One of my club members contacted them last week regarding this too and they say that they are waiting for exact details of any restrictions for later on this year so they can plan it. They say it’s not cancelled and hope for it to be planned very soon.

The INTERNATIONAL MODEL BOAT SHOW
One of the UK’s Leading Marine Modelling Exhibitions
Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th November 2021
Warwickshire Event Centre

Meridienne Exhibitions have confirmed their intention to deliver the International Model Boat Show on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th November.

They will continue to monitor and act on advice from the Government and respond accordingly to guidance throughout the coming months, to ensure the event can safely be delivered with compliance to any Covid-19 requirements that may be in place at that time.

Tickets are expected to go on sale in late July.  Make a note in the diary now of the dates and see www.modelboatshow.co.uk (http://www.modelboatshow.co.uk) for all the latest information.

As usual the show will be packed with over 600 fantastic models from over 25 club and society displays. The excellent and varied display of models from early warships to modern power boats and ships will be complemented by action on the large indoor boating pool.

Organisers expect many specialist suppliers to be present offering visitors everything they could need for their boat builds and other modelling needs.

In addition to all the boating action, the Tamiya Truckin team will be demonstrating and driving their 1/14 scale radio-controlled models on a roadway system over 80 metres square. This fantastic arena will feature radio controlled 1/14 scale trucks, plant and machinery.

Make a note in your diary now and see www.modelboatshow.co.uk for more information.

Hi Steve, originally suggested for 2019 but fell a bit flat. Have a look at the "Group build....." being the 4th/5th tread on the Model Boating section.

It is with deep regret that due to the ongoing uncertainties of Covid-19 pandemic; we have to announce the cancellation of the 2021 International Model Boat Show which was due to be held at the Warwickshire Event Centre on the 6th & 7th November.

This difficult decision is taken despite a real determination by the Meridienne Exhibitions team, trade, clubs and other supporters, all striving to continue to deliver the usual high quality and successful event during this very difficult time.

Over the past few weeks, we have been in the excruciating position of considering every possible scenario to see how we might be able to proceed, but sadly the risks of holding the event now far outweigh the reasons for going ahead.

The core decision is based on the escalating cases of COVID-19, and the risks that widespread illness and self-isolation could have on everyone involved. We have navigated our way over the past 16 months through obstacles, but now feel that the odds are stacked against us and we are no longer in a position to be able to proceed safely with the unknown government Covid-19 requirement for Autumn/Winter ahead.

We look forward to seeing you all again in the future and thank you for your support.

The Meridienne Team

Outdoor shows would seem to be the obvious solution. Only for the summer months though. The Southern Model Airshow when it was still at the Hop Farm was such a good show.

Obviously the problem is to get exhibitors and traders to commit well in advance. But in the current chaotic situation just who is going to be willing to do that, especially if you are of advancing years and still liable to catch the Covid Delta variant even if you have been vaccinated?

A few weeks ago the prospects looked good but now?

Visitors can leave things until much later to decide. Not so with exhibitors and traders.

Yes but if traders exibitors think that there might not be much foot flow they might not want to book.
I am but one person but regrettably I will not be attending any indoor shows this year.

I dont understand this decision to cancel, sports events such as premiere league football matches, music concerts etc where 1000s attend are ok to go on, but a model boat event gets cancelled!? %) ?

I suspect that they had their doubts as to whether enough elderly gentlemen would come from far and wide to give an adequate footfall. Blackpool seems to have gone off OK but I suspect it was a less expensive event to organise and we don't know whether it made a profit or loss.

Sadly, the decision was made earlier this year not to hold the 2021 Show due to the high uncertainties of the Covid-19 pandemic at the time when decisions had to be made.

We were very concerned with the unknown situation of what the winter months would be like and what restrictions would be in place.

For those of you who have commented that we ran our September model rail show – this was possible as the conditions in late summer were more stable and the risks far less.  We have sadly cancelled October 2021 events and also January 2022 events.

We are VERY pleased to confirm that we will be back in 2022 with the International Model Boat Show so please make a note in your diary now!
