i happened to come across some footage at the iwm that i've not seen mentioned before.
it's a set of ww1 reels entitled "BRITAIN PREPARED : a review of the activities of His Majesty's naval and military forces" on the iwm site:
https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/1060023124?_ga=2.230330972.1599040653.1623404032-894661889.1623404032
there's a listing of the main content here:
https://film.iwmcollections.org.uk/record/2350/media_id/3467
i've not been through all of it yet, but did find these of particular interest:
Reel 9 has a lot of footage of the grand fleet as scapa - and in the north sea.
Reel 11 destroyers at sea - and the detail of launching a torpedo.
having seen stills and models of these ships, somehow it brings it to life seeing them crewed, active, under way at sea etc. i'm sure others will recognise more of the ships than i did. hope it's of interest.

I'll check it out later. There is a DVD called "The Empires Shield" Filmed in about 1919 there are shots of all sorts of ww1 ships including Grant Fleet gunnery exercises - very impressive and the best DVD I have on this and would recommend it.
For the satirical there is also a DVD on Coronel and the Falklands - Its a silent movie filmed in 1919 with Info cards. Lots of shots of ships and very political. The English are all shown as Jolly Jack Tars and the Germans as slit eyed nasties - its actually quite funny but there are some good real ship shots. They use two of the QE class for Invincible and Inflexible!
Cheers

i thought the detail looked promising too - if i'd had the torpedo launcher detail available i'd have modelled them better!! next time then..
