Title: Sweltering
Post by: Stan on July 22, 2021, 04:50:20 pm
HI all lets see how the temp is around the country. In Leeds at 16 46 the outside temp is 93.5 f and the humidity is 37% indoors with all windows open 81.3 f and 52% humidity looks likes a further sticky night.  Good idea to just build through night sleep during the day.

I believe that on Monday or Tuesday Brize Norton where I work was the second warmest place in the UK according  to the Met Office.
It was 32deg C yesterday which was horrific on a concrete aircraft dispersal pan reflecting the heat and the actual aircraft inside were just as sweltering. I carried out an anti det engine run and had to wait for an eternity for the air conditioning to be activated. Sweated buckets! Thankfully today I was office based which had its own air conditioning.

In Stranraer with the grandkids for a few days.  29C this afternoon about 3pm so probably +30C later but they still charged about the park while we wilted in the shade.  How do kids do it?  Lots of sun cream on them (bit like greased pigs!) and made sure they drank plenty of juice.

If it is anything like last night the New Brighton puddle will be full of kids playing in the filthy water.

We haven’t got the usual green algae but have some French weed which we have to manually remove which isn’t too bad as it tends to pull the silt up with it when pulled so we get to clear the area of the weed and the mud.
Very clear water though which our local submariners like very much.

I'd take that in a heartbeat... it's 37C here with the humidity at 90some percent, and before that it was in the low twenties but with a thick fog-like accumulation of wildfire smoke all day!

....thats what we love to see 99.9% water humidity ....[not much space for 0.1% of air]..... that we breathe with 40+ C........ :-))

Just another warm day in the Land of OZ........... Derek  %)

Was that reading of 99.9% humidity taken under water ? I know H2O is 1/3rd Oxygen though the actual ratio based on molecule size might be different i.e. 40%±  ;D

The other day we took one of those cheap LCD travel clocks that show temp as well and had it in the back yard on a table and it showed it as 38°C, though an actual temp at the local airport probably was in the low 30's

As Derek said, just another warm summer's day here down under %)  It's about 15C here at present, but it is mid-winter after all.
