You might not get the chance. We have 3 computers in the house and none pass the microsoft test to be suitable for Windows 11.

Not for the 1st year after it's official release, until then it is in Beta testing while early adopters identify the bugs.

Will your PC take it , has it passed the test.

Not like the blatantly obvious security issues with win7* now, you'd be pretty daft / ignorant to keep running it if connected to internet and use it for anything needing passwords or accounts.  So if you're happy and have no issues with win10 then why change it?  What else in life would you change if you are happy with it just because something else came out? -unless of course you have an iphone.  If nothing else let all the other folk pick-up on the new version and fix all the bugs as guinea pigs before you decide to change it at some point later.

*Please Microsoft just give me an interface like win 7 was and an MS office package like office 2010 or before used to be -not the complete guff you put out since!!!!

While my PCs all failed the initial test, subsequent updates have added odds and sods that might change that.  I can't be bothered checking since come full roll-out time that checking will be done for me, and it will either turn up or not.  In the meantime, they get used and get older and quite possibly the portable one will die of something and need replacing.  Thinking about that, my netbook did, and has been replaced by a refurbed desktop of a much higher spec at a remarkably low cost.  This might actually be happy to update itself.
Its replacement will almost certainly come with Win11.  Just as long as there is at least an option to make it look and feel like what I am used to.   Thankfully, on Win10 there was reasonably easy access to the (win3.1) control panel, where the items were arranged alphabetically and thus easy to find, not grouped in a semi-logical mess that requires you to know what the guy who did the grouping was smoking when he grouped it.  From a user point of view, they got it spot on with XP, ruined it with Vista, and have been having trouble keeping the well hidden good stuff and returning to ways of having their users use the knowledge that they gained over the years.

To get an alphabetical list of all Control Panel options you can create a desktop shortcut to the Windows Master Control Panel.  ( GodMode )

It is easy...
“God Mode” in Windows 10

C'mon, how can Bill be so benevolent to the world if you don't keep feeding Microsloth? Good ploy to get everyone to update their hardware too.   >:-o O0

Windows 11 is to take advantage of newer chips being produced and the new architecture they created, all for the newer up and coming 5G etc and connectivity, all for the sake of the new generation of phone users who cannot live without that piece of technology in their grubby little hands (and the bosses who want to open new financial revenues).

I Normally Upgrade, however on this occasion mainly because my PC will not currently take it I see no reason to change to 11 so I am staying as is.

To get an alphabetical list of all Control Panel options you can create a desktop shortcut to the Windows Master Control Panel.  ( GodMode )

It is easy...
“God Mode” in Windows 10
  • Right-click (or tap and hold) any empty spot on the desktop. Choose New, Folder. ...
  • Give the folder the name GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C} ...
  • Tap or click the folder to bring up the list.
Like many things, it is easy if you are one of the tiny percentage know the answer beforehand.
However, getting a big categorised list of available tweaks categorised by the order that the pot fiend in Seattle deemed useful is less than helpful if the function wanted isn't in his list.  Or has an unexpected name.  Or appears under an unexpected category.
The easiest way to hit "control panel" is to search for it.  I suppose I should have created a shortcut to the result.  In many cases, searching for a familiar panel and finding the control wanted is faster than being misdirected by the "official" windows way.  It must be remembered that the rot set in with W8, and the attempt to make full size PCs behave like phones and vice-versa because everybody "had a touchscreen".  The man who started that nonsense was booted off, but his legacy endures.
One thing that I hope they cure is end their practice of inserting sub standard security settings with updates.   They recommend that under system properties, system protection, system restore, you mark your system disc as being protected.  Then, if you do, every once in a while, at back-up time, it gets switched off.  Deeply annoying if it is needed.  Fortunately for me, I do system backups using third party software.

“God Mode” in Windows 10

...is that a secret time tunnel portal back in time to about 10 -15 years or so ago just before Microsoft started losing the plot?  Is there a "J e s u s" mode?  I seem to shout that allot at my PC since way before windows 7 hoping there's some kind of revolution back to having IT actually working for the benefit of us compared to these days where we seem to be slaves to IT?

No, its just a big list of available functions.  Clicking on any one of them will take you to the page that handles it.  Only really useful if you happen to remember what the function you wanted is called "officially".

It will roll out gradually, much like W10 did.  Probably best to wait until it finds you, assuming that your machine can handle it.

...thats still 4 years away (just) so why upgrade now unless you're serously out-dated now?  Anything could happen in next 3 years (plenty worse can happen inbetween -won't go there).

I upgraded my PC about 10 days ago. Seems to work OK generally and a bit faster than W10 but quite a few major updates since. Bug fixes?

Windows file explorer is worse for me and after updates I have to relogin to several websites. As Martin says, not very exciting.

Secondary PC and two laptops are still on latest version of W10.
