Title: 14mm glazed Brass Porthole
Post by: ukmike on October 11, 2021, 09:38:28 pm
I need 1x 14mm non flanged  glazed Brass porthole.

It's something that I very rarely use but I need 1 only to complete a project. All that I can find are packs of 10, 9 of which would probably never be used.

Please have a rummage around, maybe someone has one that I can buy.

Mike.

What does the dimension relate to Mike?
Overall size, hole required size or visible window size?

I asked this seller some time ago and it fell on deaf ears

Lovely picture Taranis and that is what I always thought a port hole looked like.  So what is a flangeless one?  Does it not have the securing holes?

If you are fitting it in thin material then you could consider mounting it back to front...

By the laws of modelling don't you really need 2?  One to use, one to forget and find later and now you remember what it was for, can't find the original one you put in a safe place.  Just as well you got a spare so you can complete the job.  The first one will turn up in a matter of a few hours later after the first is fitted but the gremlins hid it while it was needed.

Recall the Flange goes to the inside, not the Outside.

You guys over there always have a bit of a different perspective on life.  As my cousin in Regina would say: Fair play -but did nobody tell you before?  I'm so sorry.
Actually, if you want to fit portholes from the back then you need only a very thin slip of tube -you just fit glazing of apportionate  sized sheet across the back.  The OP didn't look for this and specifcally asked for a solution of one from a pack of ten easily available so I think the "wanted" post has run it's course if he rfceives the desired package (and hope all flangeless portholes are turned to the same profile and I'm not sure thy are).

George Michael style  {-)

To be honest fitting them on the inside never occurred to me and would have looked ok apart from the styrene is a bit too thick.
Thanks for the tip Colin  :-))  and Rich for the further idea  O0
