Tamiya Grand Hauler :-))
-
This all looks very familar, I build the King Hauler in the late ninties great bits of kit arn't they, I sold mine a few years later and regreted it :((

Yes they are cracking kits, the quality of the engineered parts as always been second to none on the Tamiya trucks, this one measures 692mm in length so a good size, something I can build in the spare room without getting shouted at for making a dust..
-
Have always been interested in the engineering detail in these Russell.......I understand the basic steering geometry [from the PURPLE disked servo] as marked in yellow, but what is the second rod from the Futuba servo [marked in blue]?

I believe that the second, blue line servo arm swings to the right, and is then connected to
the transmission gears behind the motor. It will shift the gearbox from low to high and back.

Yes correct, the Futaba servo if fo the 3 speed transmission, will make the gearbox up this week and post some pics...

Hey Russell......just a thought %) ... why not ask a Moderator to start a new Thread Topic .......
This way, both questions and answers will be logged in one place O0

Hi Russell, just found a couple of photos of my King Hauler and logging trailer really enjoyed building it in 1999 and should never have sold it I believe they are getting on for twice the price I paid, I look forward to the rest of your build. :-))

Gearbox built up.

Forgot I started this thread, sorry if I hijacked another, anyway more or less finished now, been a nice build indoors out the cold wet weather..

Thank you for putting up details of the gearbox and suchlike Russell, Trucks are one of my secret loves. I so wish that someone did kits of period lorries like Fodens or Scammels. A nice Leyland Octopus would be deeeeelish :-)) . I did find Milford Models who had a TK Bedford cab as well as a Volvo C88 cab available 3d printed with glazing but they seem to have ceased trading <:(
