Have an old boat, 1970s era, Sea vommander.
Done a lead test which was negative.
Whats the best paint stripper out there. Hull is plywood....suggestions please. <:(
Layers of paint are grey primer, blue, orange, brown then white
Tried polycell gel stripper, absolutely useless! Same hot air gun.
Is there is product that i can paint one, leave then peel off????

Sorry Pete, it's all pot luck! I found Rustins Strypit a bit better than Nitromors but it's all gone "Safe". Do you know whether the paint is spirit based or water?

Acetone ?
I paid about £18 for a 4 ltr bottle of pure acetone at our local hairdresser supplies store.
I've not used it as a stripper, per se, but it's powerful stuff for cleaning finishing resin out of brushes.

Paint stripper has been rendered 'woke' under the god of green ecology. A heat gun at the right temperature will shift any paint but might need to be a bit too 'hot' for a boat hull made of ply.
Best bet is elbow grease and suitable grades of sand paper.

Try your local car body repair suppliers ours have a very strong one.
Works wonders.

You can also try scraping it off. That will keep you occupied for a couple of days. nemesis

It works or doesn't, bit like jeyes fluid. Have only used both in relatively small parts and bagged up. Both work -sometimes and as the other forums say not much rhyme nor reason to either.

We can some stuff over here in the local equivalent of B&Q that would help you, acetone 5ltr 4 Euro, hooch / paint stripper that will take your skin off, acid that cleans rust off rusty things......no nanny state here
Next years model shows I will sneak you some over......

Just to say when I was in France I could buy a whole manner of really quite strong chemicals simply in Carrefour (French equivalent of Tesco). I can conform 100% percent we do NOT have that much simple access to those products or in the same volume the same way in the UK!!
One thing I found a little strange thuough is I have numerus old parts painted with revell enamel and not much else if at all as a primer and acetone nver touched any of them! Whatever Revell are putting in their stuff it sticks like proverbial. I had this with smoothrite a few years ago and it was pretty much impervious to any chemical or a red hot flame -could only sand blast it off.

PHIL, bring over some of that local Calvados, as I seem to remember that could strip paint at 20yds!
