Hi out there. I won this sub at auction. But apart from knowing that it carries Engel dive tanks which is nice I can’t figure out what type and size of battery I need.I can see one of the electrical boards as 24v on it. But I have never heard of a 24v battery going into a model. Can anyone help. Thanks.

Don't know what submarine you won, but I imagine different subs had different battery
configurations based on available space. So a Typhoon would be different than a Gato class sub.
Maybe Engel can help? https://engel-modellbau.eu/
.

Have you tried contacting the seller to ask which battery (s) were used originally?
Just a thought...
Ray.
Edit: was it bought on ebay type auction or an auction house?

Engel dive tanks come in 6V or 12 v depending on motor size
-
It should have on the Engel tanks what type they are.

Sorry chaps, it’s an early Engel nautilus. I can’t make out what motors they are due to them both being under a mountain of fittings. On one motor I can see P24 44 49. I have contacted Engel but know reply so far.

The type 6V/12v should be on the label on the tanks, the motor type will not halo. Try lookiking at the control unit ( BTS)as the type should also tell you. Even if it is old Engel will be able to tell from the BTS type what voltage it is
-
That’s motor type won’t help

Looking at the web site Nautilus now appears to come in 12v only
-
Engel battery seems to be Panasonic 192W (12v). I am sure if you look it up and get dimensions you can find an equivalent here

Having said that finding the correct size 192 watt battery may be a challenge as it says high power and at 192 W/12v that’s 16 amps
