Title: ICM 1/144 Kriegsfischkutter
Post by: raflaunches on March 17, 2023, 08:42:12 pm
Just ordered this kit from Hannants. Interestingly it’s the same scale as the recent 1/144 Revell HMCS Snowberry kit which many have motorised for rc use. This will a much smaller model than the corvette approximately half the length (6.25 inches). I’m sure someone will get this converted to radio control but it’s something different.

So it arrived last Friday… someone might be able to do some plastic magic conversion but I don’t think it’ll be me! It’s a tad small especially to get access into. Nicely moulded and some very nice detail work on the planking. Two options are included, one basic grey, the other a two tone grey hull. What it really needs is a crew. Minor bit of flash on parts but nothing serious.

Decided to start building as a bit of a distraction at work during my swing shift (dog watch to the Navy nuts amongst you). The wooden sections were sprayed Humbrol Matt 230 and then brushed with AK dark deck wash, waited 30mins then used Mig non smelling thinners to wipe off the excess which stains it slightly and gives a highlight to the planking effect.

Mine still isn't stuck together as I haven't given up the idea of getting it motorised! Its getting the prop tube though the very narrow stern keel post. I think the entire deck could be made removeable with a bit of modification.

Easy peasy Pete! Old tech courtesy of Rice Krispies, if I remember correctly! Tube of baking powder underneath and that'll drive a 2oz model*. Lovely wake bubbles but no steering mind you %%
* If my sums is correct, as built was 110 tonnes so 1.32 oz at 1:144 so probably a full load displacement of 2oz :-))
