Hi All
Yet another addition !
Three props just the outers are driven (so far!) but all three props are the handed the same.
Not tryed her yet. Can i expect heeling touble ?

Remove the middle prop before sailing, it will act like a brake, even if you have it free wheeling.
Just make a tapered cone to put in its place.
Been there, got the t-shirt, and baseball cap.

Thinking of fitting 700 bb to middle shaft on ch 3 with separate e.s.c & battery just to see what happens.

Not sure of her history might be a kit any ideas ? Did a deal with my fishing boat (sending me to sleep!)
Shes 39 in x 9 in wooden hull ,a.b.s super/sr lots of nice detailing nav ,inside lights ect.
Still bits to do on her wireing a right mess.

Hope all goes well with the maiden voyage. What batteries are you intending to use?
Cos you'll need a lot of volts to get that moving. Don't get caught in the power/weight trap O0

Going to try X2 7.2v 3700 nimh in series not fitted motor to middle shaft yet( blanked off)
So its just the 600s on outers for now.
Will let you know how she go,s

Good luck however I think you may be disappointed :( with the performance. Try 16.8v then she might go well O0. I know this from my 78ft Higgins to the same scale, they need power with little weight to look right.

Down the lake this morning windchill -3 (Must have been mad!)
Anyway just a touch under powered need to bring middle prop into play i think ?
Also move batt/pak aft running v/wet , bow down c of g wrong
Useing 14.4 volts ,F.R 30 HX e.s.c, x2 M.F.A 4.5-15V RE540 MOTORS ,40mm 3/blade brass props.
What do you think best choice for center prop would be? matching,700bb or speed 600?
And would the e.s.c cope with 3 motors.

40mm three blade props are not helping. Before you spend any money try 35mm two blade, works for me. Or the best choice would be to run 14.4 volts to the 700bb running 35 / 40mm prop and remove the 540's.

Go to start to tidy her up a bit.
Her hull is quite badly painted curtains,varnish (gone pinkish!) ect.
Rubbed her down smooth now. Ive never painted a boat before !
So brush or spray (not to bad at that) , one colour or camo.
Any ideas ?

I would redomend you paint the PT Boat In what ever you feel like
Below is a link to a book I bought and Would recomend it. It contains good pictures, diagrams
for the PT boat and their weapons also there is good colour pictures of some of the
colours and schemes painted on the boats

I agree with Rob, try 2 bladed 35mm props preferably with a fine pitch before you do anything else.
It worked for me.

I know its been said so many times over before i just cant beleive how good it is on this forum.
i have never had a problem that has not be sorted out on here and i mean that (not just lip service)

Any progress with the 80ft? On the subject of painting the model, I use acrylics because they are forgiving if used with or covering other types of paint e.g enamel / celulose. They also cover well either brused on or sprayed. Try the Tamiya acrylic in aerosol form for the the bulk of the operation then brush the small details. They correct colours are available for your elco.

Right then. Now painted as per pic found on net (even waterline)

X2 3000 mah ni-mh 9.6 v packs in parallel nw in stern to bring bow up.
20min (ish) run time.
As Mr G Ramsey might say " aerokits pt 109 running very well, sounding good ,DONE!"

Not a fan of running cells in parallel, it has been discused on hear many times so will not go in to it again , but if you have more than one speed controller I would think about splitting it up.

How about 1 pak & e.s.c running the outers & a second pak & e.s.c (viper 25) for the speed 600 via a y lead ?

That would be much better , less chance of damaging a pack.

HS93's idea sound good to me to O0, however are you now happy with the performance? :) The pics look good. 8) Have you painted her grey or green? 99.9% of the later boats were green with red oxide below the waterline. I only metion this because if you have painted her grey she would have a black botom as you have done. Happy sailing and if you want crew check out my site. ;)

Shes matt grey with black waterline (see pic above) She has foward/aft gunners + helmsman & some lazy person sat by the aft liferaft !
She goes well enough (for now !) well above scale speed.
p.s manta now brushless on 14 cells (nearly s*it myself on on first run)

Thats good news with the elco :). Regarding the colour certain shades of green under certain light look close to grey. From where I'm looking it's on the border grey/green. :-\ Next mission get the elco to go like the manta {-)

Missed a word out in last post (it was early !)so here it is TIME.
Anyway have been looking at lots of websites regarding Elco ect.
Had no idea there was so much interesting history about them.
Studying the pics i think shes almost spot on.
Will keep her for a while (untill i get bored) and sale her on to a good home due to lack of space.

Dont know yet toying with hydrofoil or hovercraft ideas @ the moment !
Has to be brushless i think its the way to go now ?
