...Hi Guys...
Just thought I would post a couple of pictures of one of the 2 wee tugs that I am currently building for my wee boy Johnny & his pals...
It is being built using one of Model Slipways TUG510 abs plastic kits & will be based on a DAMEN STAN TUG 1906..."BATTLER" of Clyde Marines fleet at Greenock on the Clyde...
These are smashing wee tug kits for the kids or for the more mature modeller who wants a smaller boat which is easier to carry..They are small "WYFORCE"tugs at 51 cm long...
At our club we are also building a couple of these wee boats for the kids from the local Handicapped School to sail on their sunny days visits to the park...

Here is a picture of the wee tug with deckhouse & wheelhouse mouldings in place...

Is this a new kit? as I cann't see it on Model Slipways web site. Looks to be a good size model to have for a bit of fun with.

...Hi Barry...
Its a wee ABS Plastic Kit that Model Slipway started selling at the Blackpool Show...
At 20" long it is an ideal size for a fun boat...We have a few of them at our club that we are building for the Kids to sail...
If you contact Jackie at Model Slipway about these wee boats, I beleive they have some in stock at present...It is going to be added to their Web-Site later...

hi Norry you will like the (TUG500) thats what i call it lots of fun .I noticed the plug on the floor at Lawrie and Jackies place when we had a visit earlier this year and got him to run one through the vac former .
Mine has twin screw with conventional rudders and at the moment a home made wheel house ,but i have the vac wheel houae to build yet.
Lawrie mentioned to me about starting a collection of tug's for steering fun as he has a plug for barges to go with the tug's but i have'nt had time yet as i am building the latest model DUTCH courage RIVER, and it's taking all my time along with xmas and work .
This is the original at Model Slipway including the dust.

...Hi Portside II...
When i took this one over to the club to let the rest of our mad squad see it one of the guys suggested that it would be a brilliant wee boat for our wee pals from the Handicapped School to sail in the summer so a whip round was duly made & there are now several being built by the members...
I am building mine as a Damen 1906 & a 1907 just like the 2 tugs based at Greenock for Clyde Marine...
I will post more pictures as I get along with the build...

Although to late for me as I am doing one of these as well , a tip I was given about getting rid of the access mouldings on the edges was, to glue some decent sand paper to a piece of 2*3 or similiar and then just sand away untill the access plastic just drops off, saves all the messing with a cutter. :-))

Thanks for the tips......
Any ideas on power? I was thinking of trying twin motors so I could have a play with mixers etc..
