Title: Build me a Micro Magic Mk 1 (aka "Classic") ?
Post by: tyke01 on December 11, 2007, 02:27:37 pm

Absolute beginner, would like to have a MM Mk1 built (+ radio gear) as no skill to ensure success.

tyke, we all start somewhere, and if it is as easy as I think it is, it'll go together well.

1/ check parts to make sure you have them all

2/ read instructions and make sure you understand them,

3/ pin the plans to a wall

4/ read instructions and make sure you understand them

5/ purchase tools you may need, drill, scalpel/utility knife, araldite epoxy, STEEL rule, square tool etc, you instructions will tell you

6/ read instructions and make sure you understand them

7 begin assembly, and take your time.  the magic is an easy kit to build, its aimed at novice builders

Before you make ANY cuts, drill holes etc, check the plan, measure the plan, measure on the boat, mark the hole/cut, measure the plan, measure on the boat, check the mark, and only when you are sure that the hole or cut mark is where it should be, proceed

Location West Yorkshire (alongside the River Holme - HD9 2NY if you have Streetmap.co.uk or Multimap.com)

And the two commercial "enterprises" found via the MicroMagic website only build MkII. (Building a Mk I considered commercially unviable, or words to that effect).
I've seen the UK, Canadian, French, German, et al MM sites and came away with the impression that their prime interest is racing them.   All I want is a quality model that will fit easily in the car boot to sail occasionally, ergo either the Victoria or MM I

Hi ya from BD12 Tyke, perhaps some one in these hallowed portals can inform what became of the DUPLEX/LESRO or whatever successor to them 575 yacht? Yes I know it's old tech but it seemed to be a simple build, was favoured IF you wanted to race and tune it up AND was chuck in the back of carable for quick simple sailing. Another route perhaps?
