Title: PT in Brittish Service
Post by: Abuelo3 on December 21, 2007, 10:06:30 pm
Hello, I'm ask for your kind advice, I want to paint my Italery PT Elco 80' in another scheme than the green one, so I wonder if that kind of boat was in British Service and in what color's were.
Thank's in advance for your help.

Hi Godo
I'm afraid the 80ft Elco PT Boats were never used by the Royal Navy, odd perhaps as the 70 and 77ft Elcos certainly were, as were the Higgins 78ft boats plus most of the experimental PT Boats built by various yards (plus of course the US built Vosper designs).
Norway had some 80ft Elcos from the USN after the war, and some went to the USSR. I think your best bet is to ask Garth  http://www.ptboatworld.com/  for more information, I am certain there was a USN PT Boat in a colourscheme to suit you, perhaps the very cool zebra stripes...

This page gives the fates of the PT Boats   http://www.allwoodwings.com/Ships/Military/SmallFightingShips/Elco-80.htm
