Title: A couple more of the Delphine
Post by: footskijunior on December 31, 2007, 10:57:40 am
Just a couple more to show her "Battleship" form, as the original owners got sick of the US Navy nicking their yachts and returning them in a state which they couldn't be re-converted. So the Delphine was built in to be as much like a battleship as possible, Hence the unusual bow, battleship type anchors (which were a nightmare to drop).

You'll also notice that the rudder has had an additional piece bolted on, this was done in the 1920's when the owners realised that she handled like a brick.... didn't make much difference in my opinion.

Also, take a look at the pitch of the props, very deep, there was some discussion when I was there whether they were on backwards (no way  to tell) as she went faster astern!!
