Title: Computer Question
Post by: KenP on January 03, 2008, 03:08:10 pm
Now I know there is an obvious answer to my problem, the trouble is , I don't know it !!!!

When connected to the internet , and browsing, a site can appear to give you the info you require if you put the cursor on a certain "marker" and click.

I do this, a window appears to flash up and promptly dissapear and I get a "Bloop" type sound

Why won't the bl**dy window stay up !!!!!******

Ken you can get this if you are on a site that has windows that open the same as pop ups.
Try turning your pop up stopper off.

Richard is right. Almost certainly the pop up blocker. When you try to open a site you may see a bar at the top telling you about the pop ups and asking you to click on it to make your decision as to whether to allow it or not.
Click on it and allow them.

I got a pop-up stopper called "no-adds" years ago when it was a freebie.  Anytime a poup that I don't want appears, I wake no-adds up, add it to the barred list, and it never comes back.  This way I can have popups enabled, but dont get troubled by unwanted ones.  I don't know if its still available, but there should be something equivalent out there.
