Thanks chaps. O0
Any idea of the run time ? :-\
-
Am I right in thinking that a 4Ah battery charging at 500ma will take 8 hours to charge ? :-\
Brain wont work. :embarrassed:
-
In theory yes but if it's a Gel cell then it shouldn't be more than half discharged anyway so recharging time should be less.
-
Same here Richard, 6volt SLA, 4ah, seems to run forever, so far!

DD,
A gel cell charges at contant voltage but the charging current drops as the voltage comes up to the point where once the gel cell is charged - the current is only a few milliamps. 20mA would be a typical figure. Therefore the usual current verses time calculation used for ni-cds etc. doesnt apply here. Its safe to the leave the correct charger on charge for the aforementioned reason. (Thats how a security alarm charger works). Also, its not a good idea to run a gel cell until "flat" as it will difficult to recover the battery from this state especially if left until next time its required.
