Does anyone recognise this model? Looks a bit like a fireboat to me, but I have no information. I don't think it is a kit.

Most kits used to look like that once, no GRP, ABS or Styrene, just good 'ole plywood, obeche and cascamite. ;)

Cascamite....Now those were the days.....

Aerolite glue surely, smelt like cats pee. Oh, takes you back. :embarrassed:
-
My mate used Aerolite, I was always a Casco man. That was about it in those days if you wanted a waterproof wood glue. Used to like Durofix as well, UHU doesn't quite match up. I suppose if they sold it these days it would have to be called "Getafix".

As far as we know this was built in the 70's. Doesn't look like Cascamite though :)

It certainly is an aerokits fire tender.............i am building one at this very moment..........origional 60's kit.....all wood.....and i am using cascamite ( now called extramite )..............
Aerolite glue ..... >>:-( would have stuck better if id used polycell.

by the way model slipway do the fittings for the 34 inch version for 35 quid ...and very nice they are too !

I used Aerolite on the hoy in 1967 and she's still sailing. Not cat's pee, though - smells of ants. (formic acid)
-
i used aerolite 306 in the sixties on a sea urchin......useless !......thought it must be me so i tried it again on the aerokits m.t.b.....same result.....too watery and just didn't stick..........so iv'e stuck with cascamite ever since......never had a problem with it !! O0

Is the deck and wheelhouse roof solid ply or planked? This one is planked. I've seen the fittings - I will pass on the info to whoever restores it. Don't think it will be me :)
