Hi All,
Trying a bit some experimental galley software here.....
1. Does it work?
2. What do you think of the new gallery?
3. How fast or Slow is it from your end?
Tanks! Martin.
-
1. Yes, it works.
2. I think it is fine.
3. It took about two and a half minutes to load.
Martin, thanks for a good photo coverage. It may seem a long time to load but you did take rather a large number of photos!
Roger in France.
-
yep 2 minutes to load but the pictures are great, so no problem ,
Martin is there any way to enlarge pic's when viewing as I do like a close up specially of HMS Repulse.
liked the way you can flick through the pic's just don't click on the picture you are looking at as it closes it, and its "xxxxx" to find were you were,
looks like it might be quicker for Martin, as we got the pic's quick.
Thanks Martin

Here the other way of showing the same pictures...

Which do we prefer? New or Old?
-
The new one Martin, you have to make allowance for us old folk.

Now if we could watch them as a slide show that would help the arthritis. (http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p8/DickyD_photos/tumb.gif)

Much prefer the old way of showing the pictures Martin as the thumbnails are larger and it's easier to pick and choose where to start the slideshow. Not a great lover of fancy tricks with software, K.I.S.S!!!!!

New way Martin
Even with broadband the old opne was slow to load and i could not watch it until all were loaded. The new way allows me to look at the pictures while the rest are loading.

The OLD way Martin. Instant download, clearer thumbnails, easier to pick and view individual pictures.
Even with broadband the new way took far too long to load. Good photos though. O0 Thanks.
-
Liked the effects of the new but like Wetwater and Brian Prefer the OLD way as even with broadband the new way took a lot longer to load.

Which do we prefer? New or Old?
Much prefer this way. It is easy to see what is in the pictures before enlarging.
The other way, the tumbnails are too small to really see, even when you hover over them and they explode.
-
Martin they both loaded quicker today, Must say I like the old way better. pictures are a bit bigger good for the detail
you can pick out individual pictures better.
But would also like to know whats better for you re: loading times as I appreciate the time it takes to do,
and the picture gallery is getting large now and provides me and I'm sure many others with a good visual source and a great
way to keep me occupied me during the lunch break at work.

I actually meant this one Martin, being the newest of the two you put on this posting. :-\

I like the old way. As people are saying, they have a better preview version, and the expanded pictures are larger.
It's still a load of work for you Martin and I want you to know it's very much appreciated. Thank you.

I prefer the old way too, but agree with the previous comments regarding which is better for you to load, Martin - we can rub along with which ever suits you best. Either way - thank for putting these up for us to see. I thoroughly enjoyed them
Best Wishes
-
Great photos - prefer the old system as it gives a larger image on the enlargement. Much easier to view the fine detail.
We appreciate these pages!

I am old, very very old, and the old system is best for me, but, whichever is better for Martin!
-
Old system sems to load a lot faster on my machine,

Grant.

Old system seems to load a lot faster on my machine
Same here.
Also thumbnails are easier to see using old method.

Old system cant get the new system to work

Most definitely the old, for all the reasons stated above - much quicker loading, clearer thumbnails etc etc. O0
Peter.
-
Old version please, for all the reasons already stated!

For me, the 'Old' style is definitely easier to use.
-
Old version easier to see/ use
-
definatly the old way with the bigger photos ,i opened both links and read the entire postings on the subject ,and after getting halfway down the big photos were all there and when i started this reply the little photos had just got to 100% .
And the tide was in so the broad band was going full steam (our telephone lines are ancient and run across a bridge that was built at the turn of the last centuary ,65kbs is megga fast for me).

i like the old way, but i will give the new way a change if the thumbnails could be bigger.
my download speed is +/- 300kbs, broadband cable.
it took >2 minutes to download the transparant thumbnails and another >3 minutes for the page had been completely downloaded. so in total more than 5 minutes. and than i could not see anything on those little thumbnails, even if i hover on them. i use a 19" wide screen with a resolution of +/-1400X700 pixels. the thumbnails are less then 5mm square.
so if the thumbnails could be bigger and the download time shorter it should be just fine.
greetings from The Netherlands.

Hi Martin
Version One much better to view and load, Even with broadband version two takes forever to load.
