Bert Kampfert and Zambezi, from Swingin' Safari, wasn't it? Must have played that hundreds of times as a demo disc at Audio Fairs. Brings back some memories.

Via email to Mayhem....
Martin, greetings from t'other side of the Oceans.
This image shows my three liners at sea, but pausing for the media plane. The dark vertical line leading to starboard side of Northern Star is not, fortuneately, a torpedo.
The other two are Pretoria Castle with the huge red funnel, and Strathmore. The liners
cover 40 years of service, from 1935 (Strathmore) to (Northern Star) 1975, with the other line, Union-Castle, for example, sailing for over 120 years. Great fun to build, the models took over six years to build from scratch, from plans purchased from your National Maritime Museum.
cheers

Terrific models there and on your other link! I can see that it requires best friends to lift those into the pond with all the detail!
-
Absolutely supeb models and a real picture together on the water.

Beautiful work and beautiful subjects too. They knew how to build good looking ships in those days. The models bring them back to life.

Please Mr Hopper, ask someone to make a video of your wonderful ships on the lake. Some internal photos would also be great if it's not too much to ask for. What an effort to build these three ships, they look absolutely fantastic! Thank you for showing them to us!

Magic boats, was a pity the wind was so strong at Waihi for them to sail.

Looking at the 3 boats reminds me of a liner called the Southern Cross which I was lucky enough to get invited on board at Freemantle Australia, I was part of the crew of Hms Albion back in 1968 ,it was bringing Italian immigrants there, 5 of us from the ship had a tour around the ship ,a bit of an upgrade to our living conditions, ha ha Phil

I went out to Australia, my parents being £10 Poms, on the Strathmore in 1961.

Hi Rob, where do you go to in Australia , how did you go on , I heard that if you did'nt like it over there you had to pay your own fare back within the 2 yrs , also you had to get a few jobs to get by ,it was very hard to fit in and a lot came back.
