Dragon Foilers - anyone tried one?
« on: April 16, 2025, 05:42:51 pm »

Has anyone tried one of these foiler conversions for the Dragonforce models? They are very blingy in CF so are  going to be very spendy to get to the UK from NZ with a sticker price of just over £400 +all the import dutiesfor the 65 version, but they do seem to perform really well (video). I love Sail GP and the AC72s of the current generation in the Americas Cup so one of these really appeals once I have got used to sailing my monohull 65 this summer.

sorry, but they would have to be half that price before i even look at them...  which may be why no-one is talking about them.

Compared to the composite Rc gliders I used to fly that is relatively cheap but I do agree if they made a 3d printed or fibreglass version with some additional carbon reinforcement I think they’d be more tenable for those overseas. I have just messaged them to suggest this.

I am just saying the original boat is $300 US, and is blow molded plastic.  anything better than that as an accessory is way overkill, in every way.  I don't think the manufacturer understands the target audience for the original boat.
