Spectacular pictures of shipping disasters...
« on: October 17, 2009, 07:43:36 pm »

Presumably you all know this site?    http://www.cargolaw.com/

Hard to find everything in it - it's really quite big, but in the 'photo features' section it contains stories and extensive pictures of pretty well all the major transport disasters of recent years. A lot of the photos are stunning, when you find them. Hint - you have to scroll down quite a lot. The site also includes aircraft and dockyard disasters - typically cargo stacks and cranes collapsing, or ill-loaded ships rolling at the dockside...

I think my favourite is this - http://www.cargolaw.com/2006nightmare_mv.alvastar.html

But the one of the fireworks cargo going up is quite spectacular. And the pictures of a big towboat being sucked under a bridge, half rolled underwater and then resurfacing again is also quite something....http://www.cargolaw.com/2002nightmare_towboat.html
