Storing Paint
« on: April 15, 2008, 03:06:04 pm »

 :)

I have about 4 litres in a 5 litre can of Dulux Trade undercoat.   This was repatriated from work as surplus to requirements.  Would it be OK to decant into old coffee jars of 1 litre?  Each time I need to use a bit the skin forms over the remainder and some is "lost"
How long would it remain workable?

Any paint Guru out there?

thank you....

Hi banjo,

As a general tip, when dealing with smaller cans of paint I drop washed pebbles into the tin to bring the level back to the top to avoid too much skinning.

Make sure the tin is sealed and store upside down. No skinning. O0

Hi Dicky, I tried that trick once, went to the cupboard one day and found the lids had leaked..... paint everywhere!
It's a good idea though  O0. If you decant into coffee jars and the like, beware the paint doesn't go for the plastic lids.
