Anyone heard of these
« on: April 16, 2008, 12:22:17 am »

Hi, I have been offered a new radio and would like the opinion of you lot, first.
It is called a  Tuborix 6 channel fm radio set on 40 mhz. They also do one the same with ccpm, but I don`t know what ccpm is. ( sounds a bit Russian to me)
It is supplied by a company called R hobbies.  I have bought from them before because they are low priced, and the esc`s that I bought work great. ( 1 esc running twin motors in a 50" motorcruiser, slow starting and not even getting warm) for only £18.00. I`ve got 3 of them now and never a problem.
Anyway, I`ve put the address here if anyone would like to look and comment, before I buy it.

Their brushless motors and brushless ESC's are extremely cheap too.

I think CCPM is probably PCM modulation.

I'm not a helicopter freak (helicopters don't fly because of aerodynamics, they fly because they are so ugly the ground rejects them)
but I do know that CCPM is a cunning mix used by Helis for rotor control.

Profoundly unimportant for boaters, and even flyers of fixed wing craft.

Thanks for the link - you are wonderful person as I am looking actively for a VERY Cheap 6 Ch radio for my Brig - I only have 3 channels at the moment and its not enough for 2 masts with square sails, 4 fore and aft sails , rudder and motor, not to mention the guns and ship's cat amimation.

Yes, they look very cheap, including the speed controllers etc but my experience of very cheap Chinese electronics has been very good - indeed perfect.

Hi guys..........what an alladins cave that place is.........i have some of the chinese esc's already and have had no problems with them at all.......................so have just ordered a six channel radio and another lot of esc's , the way i see it at the prices they are quoting , if they only last a few months ....hey , what the hell just chuck em away and buy some more.........probably cheaper than getting futaba etc repaired.

                 site now added to favourites

thanks for putting this site on.

Hey you lot, I just asked what you thought of them, ....leave one for me to buy {-) {-).
Any how, as I said, the two Esc`s I run off of a 12v 7ah batt to two 500 type motors in a 50" motor cruiser, starts slow and smooth and then powers away when you want to without them even getting warm.  Looked great, at least until it leaked and I have to strip and reseal.
I will definitely be buying more and a tranny from them, last shipment took only 5 days via hong kong. Some local sites don`t match that. Although any brit site that can, just let me know and you will get my order. I`d rather buy local.
I also have used revolution shop and got good service. I just lost their web address :(

I have sent an e-mail to them today asking them this very question. I will post answer when I receive it.
Seems like a lot of interest in them, maybe the first one to receive could do a quick review on it.

I just received my Radio gear today, thanks to you for posting up the link.
They deliver a lot faster than many UK companies, and what can you say about the prices other than fantastic!

I can't do a proper review yet as I am still just building up my equipment.
The receiver that comes with the radio is tiny, 34mm* 21mm*11mm. I can't see where the battery is supposed to connect to the receiver, there are six connectors for the six channels and that is it apart from the aerial. I will need to get a battery pack.
The radio and receiver both come with a crystal. There are no instructions or leaflets of any kind with it.
I also ordered a set of four "Eurgle" servos as non come with the radio as sold. These were all packaged up well in polystyrene and bubble wrap, then encased in a polystyrene laminate sandwich cut to fit.
I just wish British companies would take note on how to package things. The last item (computer hard drive) I bought from a major UK company was just dropped into a large box with no packing. It was like a matchbox loose in a shoebox, but bigger and heavier! >>:-(

Anyway, I can't wait to try my new toys out! 8)
For a grand total of £41 and a few pence, including delivery, where could you hope to get anywhere near that in value in Europe? ::)

Sounds alright but does it have a CE approved sticker on the back?

I have one of these transmitters but with the W-Fly name on it instead. I have also seen them with the name TDF. All the same TX but just a bit of 'badge engineering'. Mine does not have a CE mark on the TX but does have on the box. This it would seem is all that is required. I did find the website of the manufacturer and got a copy of the CE certificate but at the moment I cannot find the siite again.

I got mine on Ebay from BigDotUncle.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Bigdotuncle-Eshop_Transmitters-Servos-Receivers_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ939392QQftidZ2QQtZkm

It was supplied with crystals not legal for use in the UK. The transmitter uses normal size Futaba single conversion crystals.  The receiver supplied uses the mini crystals type UM-5. I was able to get a few sets of the correct frequencies, along with a couple of additional receivers.

Crystals here:-

http://www.himodel.com/radios/Generic_UM-5_40.665Mhz_Ch.50_FM_Receiver_Crystals.html

Receivers here:-

http://www.himodel.com/radios/WFLY_40MHz_6_Channels_FM_Mini_Receiver.html

There are two versions of the transmitter. The FT06-A and the FT06-C I found that the FT06-A is more suitable for boat use. The FT06-C  seems to be primarily for Helicopters.

I have had no problems with mine so far and have been very happy, particularly with the price.

Spyderman

I found a manual (for the aircraft version) while looking at these

http://letrainpassion.fr/Tel_Avion/6chRadioTransmitter_airplane_manual.pdf

They look interesting - any impressions on actual performance?
