Jim
This is based on a lifeboat presumably, would it be a Trent?

Yep, it's an Arun. Ex-Penlee - Mabel Alice. O.N. 1085 52-24.

(Kent police have just bought the prototype Tamar - to be based at Sheerness).

Impressive vessel'

It is the first time MoD police have trialled a boat which has been expressly built for their needs.

Built over a period of 15 months, it is powered by two turbo-charged diesel engines and has a top speed of more than 30 knots.

The vessel is designed to be quicker and more manoeuvrable by using water-jet technology for steering.

The MoD spokesman said: "We are still conducting trials but every indication so far is that this launch will be far and away the most capable and impressive vessel of its type in the UK, if not beyond."

Once the boat has successfully completed sea trials then it will be based on the Clyde.

At least this new boat might keep them awake on a Sunday morning.
I just a few years ago managed to sail within 3 boat lengths of them in my 50hp RIB, before the guy reading the Sunday papers dropped them, the guy asleep with his head resting on the chart table woke up and the helmsman sitting with his feet up drinking a coffee, scalded himself......All within yards of the Coulport submarine fueling depot.
Just makes you feel safe to think the MOD finest are on the ball 24hrs a day {-)

True story:

Mod Plod "Can I see your ID"

Me "But you know who I am"

Mod Plod "Yes sir, but familiarity breeds etc"

You couldn't make it up  :D

So who's going to be brave enough to contact the MoD and ask them where the boat was made.....
.......and then refer them to this thread!  :o

I have since found out that it was designed by Camarc, and built by Holyhead Marine, see their website here for more details:

Well I have new!

I've spoken to Holyhead Marine and had a nice chat with a gentleman there.
He was a bit reserved at first but once he realised we just a bunch of enthusiastic... but harmless nutters he
agreed to look into the possibility of releasing a set of simplified CAD drawings for us to make a model of their
new 15m Police Boat. Obviously any commercial and copyright details will be removed and there is no licence
to produce the hull commercially but they are more than keen so see some semi scale models of this
and their other boats.

He said, 'give him a week or so and he'll see what he can make available.' .... Does any Mayhemers know CAD and CAD conversion?

( NB: if anyone is interested in making an exact scale model of the Police Boat, please PM me! )

More pictures would be welcome Andy if possible.

Edit: Spelling.

hi there everyone;

Martin Mayhem - if you can persuade that man with the Leather Jacket on  :D to do a drawing or a plan similar to the Fairy Swordsman in construction or the Strathclyde Police Boat; I will be prepared to do a build and a log on it, similar to the Fairy Swordsman;

I have no facility though of downloading CAD drawings on this computer here; but I am certain we could get by - however, it would be great to work from a plan that is our Dave M can do it - hey it would only take him a couple of minutes, he is sitting there with nowt else to do isnt he  -  sitting there on his old man's chair twiddling his thumbs and swinging his soldering iron....I am now goiing to don my hard hat and dive for cover....aye  :) :) :) :) :) :)

I was wondering what the hell to do today...................
OK, if you can squeeze some drawings out of The Plod then I'll see what I can do to get them in a fit state for Bloobs to play with. AutoCAD R14.DWG would be the best format, but I can convert from PDF if necessary.
Don't try getting anything from Camarc - we've been trying for years! "Blood" and "stone" spring to mind.
Now leave me alone for a bit - I've got Footski's P94 to finish!

hi there,

with reference to viewing cad drawings may i suggest this.

You can download for free software very similar to autocad here http://www.dwggateway.com/

Be warned the software is full of glitches if your intending on doing any extensive drawing work but if its just for viewing files and some drafting then its perfect  It will view any dwg. dxf. file etc.

hope this is of use to some one :)

She's definately a retired Arun. There's one in Holyhead harbour too on a regular basis, looks like a dive support boat or something, orange painted over with grey(bit dull!). Dave.
