Receivers
« on: April 27, 2008, 11:12:33 am »

 :) :)Morning to you all,
Members of this Forum have put me on the right track regarding R/C Crystals for use with my Zebra TX.
I apologies in advance for being vague on R/C since I am still learning hence my next enquiry on receivers.

I am using a  Cirrus 40 MHz receiver and will be looking to purchase another for my next project, I have noticed on the Web that one can buy a Cirrus receiver with 35MHz are these interchangeable?. Many thanks.

Not with 27 or 35 Meg. Only the crystals on the same frequency ie all within the 40 range, 35 range etc.

I've had a couple of 4 channel Cirrus RXs from Howes last one was £9.99, works fine with my 40Mhz Futaba

Dont forget - for model boats ONLY 40 or 27 Mhz are allowed. 35Mhz is for aircraft and 72 Mhz, which you see frequently on eBay, is not allowed in the UK.

Ceres

Your current TX and RX will be 'tuned' for 40Mhz. If you wish to use 27Mhz crystals you will need the appropriate TX and RX (this is also true for 35Mhz but as has already been mentioned this is for Aircraft only). Mixing a different range of crystals with 40Mhz TX and RX at best won't work and at worst could transmit on on some unspecified frequency which could be dangerous.  :'(
