Has anyone made their own Kort nozzles? Any good tips in doing it?

Hello all, the flowerpot method has worked for me in the past Dave. This is where you use an appropriately sized plastic flowerpot and trim eithe liteply or styrene sheet to fit inside and laminate another couple of layers inside again. Trim off excess material and create the required shape of mounting blocks and the line up with prop.

It's thursday night and I tend to get thicker as the week goes on...

So does the plastic flowerpot actually form part of the finished Kort, or is it purely used to allow the styrene pieces to be formed into shape?

If the pot is used, what glue is suitable? CYA?

Thanks Jim, sorry for my general thickyness :)

Hello all, Yes Davie it is just as a former and use CA as sparingly as possible on the first layer. You may have to sacrifice the floerpot ot get the formed nozzle out. Three layers ought to be sufficient and remember to stagger the joins by 60degrees each time .

Dave if you have a close look on those photo'sI put up of the Accord BCK on the MacDuff slip you can see how the real thing was built. The metal is cut into "fingers" that join up when the steel was rolled and gives it the compound curve.

I'll have a dig about online and might even dig out my old Technical Drawing gear and draw up a set of scaleable plans ( i'll have to soon anyway with the small fleet of hulls i've got lying around !!! ).

Another possibility is to use the nozzles on hair dryers.
Your nearest boot sale can supply for coppers and some have a decent aerofoil section too.

Dave thats me just got home from Fife and I did go in past Scoonie Modelshop. They have a Kort Nozzle in stock in their fittings ( got the latest fittings list which is more up to date than their website ) and its for a 50mm prop ( similar to the Maggie M one I guess ) that might be usefull for you.

I'll dig the catalogue out and Email you the size and cost of the Nozzle Dave later on tonight.

I make all my korts from drain pipe as the pipe comes in a variety of sizes, all you need to know is a plumber as they have lots of peices left over after doing homes upgrades they seem to work very well and a quite tough..
