west london boating lake?
« on: April 28, 2008, 09:51:20 pm »

does anyone know of a boating lake somewhere to the west of London?

It needs to have easy parking access (disabled badge), and be outside any of the charging zones. maybe between heathrow and hampton court, or further north a bit?

We want to have a family picnic and boat launch, with out having to do battle finding space for a half dozen cars, coming from the four corners of the country.

All advice gratefully received. :)

Hi Sunnybob

There is a pond in Bushy Park (just outside Hampton Court) which the Whitton Model Boat Club use, free parking, easy access.
Hope this is of use to you

That looks promising, but what would the parking be like on a sunday? I want to be able to get a half dozen cars fairly close together.
thanks. :) ;D

Sail there once in a blue moon. parking no prob reasonably early, ie, 09:00, to 10:00 ish, but it is a park and very popular. there is disabled parking.  pond all but on top of ther car park. been there on a sat morning, even easier. there is nearly always someone sailing there sun, and i beleive a club sail there some other day, dont know when.
see you there,

Black park looks very interesting.  From the write up I take it there would be no problem with the boat on a saturday?

Thanks very much O0 O0

I went to have a look at Black Park in my lunch break.

It turns out Black Park is eight minutes drive from my office. I've worked here for eight years, in which I could have been doing lunchtime model boating, had I known, Aaaaaggghhh!

It looks lovely as well, really big and smooth water, tarmac perimeter path, car park right next to the lake. The club that use it have a beautiful water, of course I bet it's busy at the weekend.

Regards,

Grant.
