Trim tanks
« on: July 24, 2006, 09:07:06 am »

Not a new idea, but in the course of a refit to my Darnell T class, I've fitted it up with for & Aft trimming tanks.
basically, it's two 3oz aircraft fuel tanks one in the bow & one in the stern, connected to a water pump/ esc.

i can now move the about 30z of weight from front to back to trim the boat on the surface or, more importantly, when diving/dived.

Tried it at the weekend & it works well, although I think I will put a bigger tank in the bow. if you've got a spare channel & the space it's worth doing.

If you have a spare pitch controller you could pump that to the ESC and you'll have automatic trim  :). You need one that you can switch on and off by radio and as the auto bit won't work to well when the sub is in motion.
