Just wanted to know if any of you techno heads have made the Revell U-Boat into a diving model? I used to work in a model shop, and we had two customers in the process of converting these to  diving models, but i dont know how they got on.
Can you chaps tell me if it is possible, either a static or surface running model? any picture you might have would be realy appreciated.

Many thanks Amber, that link is superb!!! and the video proved how well it works.

Do you by any chance know if you have to leave the sub two halve seperate? i.e. not glued?

... hi Voyager, sorry I don't know much more than that, I'm sure i picked up the link off this forum and added to my favourites - yep its a really good site and it certainly sells the idea of having a sub! I'll check out the source on which Forum topic and get back to you.

I'm considering buying that Revell VIIc sub kit at some point, but the problem is, I haven't got the first idea what anyone is talking about!  ;D

Cheers, Brian

... Hi again Voyager - found it - its not in 'Submarines' at all - check out the 'L A Class Seawulf Sub' in 'Your builds' - that excellent link was provided by Daryl... suggest you ask your question to him uitilising that thread. Hope that helps...  ;)

.... Hiya, come to think of it, if you do acquire a Revell VIIc kit and all the gubbins, why not document your build for the forum - but in laymans terms - then even I may be able to become familiar with the submariners terminology and procedures!  :)

I had a similar idea, a friend of mine is interested in building one.....so i am going to use your idea, and let him build it first so as he can guide me through any problems! ;D

Like you, i have no technical now how on Sub's either, scale boats i'm fine with...but Sub's are a different ball game ???

.... yep, its certainly a bit of a black art!  ::) But if you can unravel everything and make things nice and easy to understand then thats gotta be a bonus!

I'll be putting in my order for the Revell kit then - and that will be an excuse to shop around for a new radio too!  :D

Do keep me/us posted on your progress ;)

I can recommend a good model shop, that have a good mail order service if you have trouble getting hold of that Revell VII Sub.

Good luck with your project!

Wayne, what's the going rate for this kit? I've seen prices from £40 to £50 and I think one went cheap a couple of days ago on ebay (about £30 or so) plus postage of course on all these.

I'll have to check our local Stockton Modeller to see what they are selling at in there - can obviously carry home free of charge in the car from there!

I also have a couple more projects on the go (who hasn't in this hobby!) having only recently 'dusting off' my builds (for my kids) from quite a few years ago and given them a run out on the local water... so one more new build maybe a bridge too far at the moment (checkout your Flower Class thread - have a question there for you as well!!)  :D

Cheers

Hi Brian,

Not sure what the going rate is, but if you look up the shop called ''Hannants'', there you should get some contact details and possibly some prices. I should be going to the shop next week, so if you want me to check for you i will.

Hi... I've tried Hannants website, but none in stock apparently - remembered Antics and they have 3 at 3 different UK store locations - £49.95 but free p&p.....  http://www.shipmodels.co.uk/561_1_1013296.html

I've emailed Stockton Modeller - I'm working in Teesside on Thursday so could call in there.

Cheers
