Sources of (reasonably priced ) carbon fibre?
« on: May 13, 2008, 01:11:50 pm »

Hello all.

I'm looking to tap into your sources of carbon fibre.

I usually use Glasplies ( who are *brilliant* for Glass fibre by the way ) but their prices are crashing through the roof now they have worked their way through their previously stock piled rolls.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any other suggestions for firms still offering a reasonable price on carbon.

Ideally I want about 25 x 0.5 meters of it at least. IM-2 or IM-4 for preference, but can use pretty much anything.

Any help or sources greatfully recieved

You will be very lucky to get that kind of quantity as British Aerospace are buying such large quantities so there is a world wide shortage and hence the prices of Carbon Fibre has now shot through the roof

Sorry I don't know what IM-2 or 4 is.

You might like to try East coast Fibreglass supplies Tel 0191 497 5134 they stock 200gm carbon in plain and twill weave.
