Servo Linkage
« on: May 15, 2008, 10:17:21 pm »

Hi
I have all the electrical gear for my Marie Felling I've set it up and it works well.

I have just noticed that I need some kind of linkage between the servo and rudder arm. (not surprisingly {-)

Do I just go out and buy two bits of stiff wire and bend to suit?
I've read that with the two linkage wires, that they have both got to be the same length or servo wear occurs.
I would think then some means of adjustment should be included.

Being a novice first time build, I've noticed that the various outlets supply quite a few variations on a theme.

regards
Gary :)

You could use M2 steel rod with adjustable klick links or adjustable ball couplings.

These are all available from http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/acatalog/installation_accessories.html

Hi Gary

As well as the two connecting rods being of equal length, the distance from the servo centre to the point that the rod connects to the servo arm needs to be the same (or almost the same) as the distance from the centre of turn of the rudder arm to to point that the rod connects on the rudder arm.

If they are not the same then you put stress on the servo, but having longer push rods reduces stress; as mentioned in the other post.

Hard to describe, picture is easier.
