Looking for particular website...
« on: May 22, 2008, 11:02:21 am »

Hi,
I recently found a website wherein an aluminium-hulled model tugboat was displayed, and have somehow lost the link.  The model was just short of a bathtub long (there was a picture of it being test-floated in a tub!), and a lot of internal detail photos.  It was steam powered, and not quite completed.  From this brief description, is it possible anyone might be aware of this particular model, and let me have the url, please?
Regards, Ian Kirby.

Ian

Could it be this one?

I Google searched on "model tugboat +aluminum" since our transatlantic cousins are challenged with spelling

Hello Andrew,
Yes, indeed, that's the one!!  Many thanks, and I have properly bookmarked it now, so I shouldn't lose it again!
I had tried 'aluminium hull model tugboat' on google, but maybe you were right - I don't spell with an american accent!
I think it is a spectacular model; have you had a look at it?
Regards, Ian Kirby.

Ian,

Yes, indeed I have found it before and remembered it, but I don't bookmark everything (I couldn't)

I work with and correspond with Americans, and remembered that the tug had the US-type wheelhouse - hence the US spellling

Keep us posted with your version ;D

Wow! Many thanks for that, Andrew - that's some building.

But I would love more info from the maker on how he built his hull - there's no frames, but (surely?) it must've been made over a former?

That tug is a thing of engineering beauty, the detail and work that has gone into it is awsome :o :o :o :o

Hats off to the builder
