Can someone tell me what colour tin hats the USN sailors wore in the 1960's down Vietnam way. :-\ On gunboats.( PGM's ).

USN here what do you mean by a tin hat? and what kind of ship?By gunboat do you mean a riverine swiftboat? I might be able to help if you give me more details

I served in USS BAINBRIDGE (DLGN-25) from 1966-70, and our M1 helmets were painted Haze Gray. The only time these were worn was at General Quarters. At all other times while underway, blue baseball caps were worn topside. When tied up pierside, topside attire was a mix of ball caps and white hats.
