Very good Tomo 1,
have you put budgets on the rear swim ends
The lighters I used to tow around all had one or you will find that they yawl all over the place.
I even had to fit them to the flat top I made for Marchwood lake

A 'Budget' to you, a 'Skeg' to me. Same thing no doubt but can anyone hazard a guess as to where the former term came from?

close barry.. try the other end, it's the plate that wraps round the after end above the swim. the fore end plate is the huff..

if i can work out how to put text on pictures i will do a "name the parts of a barge" picture.
the picture i posted was of a model barge a small one no more than 80 tons reg. these are referred to as punts. and we built to be rowed with long oars (sweeps or paddles) by one or 2 lightermen. you can see it still done once a year on the Thames in the barge driving race (driving is the name we use for rowing) except that we have teams of up to 6 so speed is the object.
