Hi all going back a few posts I am using a Futaba 6 ch 'M' FM set.  It is a classic in design and a pleasure to hold.  Unfortunately 27 Mhz FM crystals are near impossible to find these days.  I have 3 sets of crystals, so anyone who has any more available please contact me.  I have found the most efective combination is with a Micron Rx.  I fitted this combination to an IngaIV in June this year.

I think I have to agree with Martin.  There are several differing characteristics for crystals, how they are cut (axis X,Y,Z), frequency (depends on the IFs used), size, and 'activity' (not what it's really called but can't remember the proper name of it).  There are three 'stages' of crystals working, Yes, sort of, and No.  If that isn't confusing I'm slipping!  Theres three ways of determining if a particular crystal will work in a particular radio system.  First is you knowing all that you need to know about the particular crystal and system, and second is if you can depends on the 'other' guy knowing all that then taking his word for it.  The 'third' method is to try it and see.  The 'best' 'other guy' to believe is the manufacturor of the radio system cuz 'he' wants you to spend more money with him.  The next 'best' is you, unless you are subject to making mistakes (I never make misteaks!).  Then it's a 50/50 chance no matter who'z word you take, unless they never make misteaks either.
Bargains are not always bargains... especially when it's me looking for them...
