If both stopped working at the same time I would check that the power feed to them is OK.
IE something common to the two.......fuse/connections/-ve return etc

I doubt if Graham @ Hunter Systems would touch these dreadful things with a bargepole. I've seen how badly they were put together and it would be difficult know where to start a repair. ..........deleted.........

I believe that Anthony Kirk of R/C Model Workshop has undertaken some service work on them - sooner him than me - but he's in the throes of setting up a new workshop and might not be easy to contact except via a PM through this Forum (his Forum handle is pakirk).

We're trying to get something a lot  better for you guys; please be patient.

Isn't that funny that this should come up.

My smoke machine on Boston Typhoon had stopped working. (probably THAT trip to the wet Wickstead).

I found water in the fan and it had stopped rotating. It wouldn't take stripping and repair so I had to purchase a new fan at over £10 from RS Components. I removed the guts from the old motor and used the case as a 'stand off' for the new motor, thus placing it a bit higher than the water level and it works a treat..

I was thinking of removing it, to place it in the new boat, Waverley, as I shall need smokes for her, but now you have whetted my appetite, FLJ .

I'll be one of your first customers, if this is so.

Cheers...Ken

We aren't contemplating either manufacturing or importing a pond-fogger-type smoke generator. I did ask Dave Morrish at Harbor Models about buying some of his for resale but he prefers to sell direct to the end-user. It does look an impressive beast if you watch the video on the Harbor Models website, but it's $100 a pop - which would make it £75-ish by the time you've paid the shipping costs and Mr Darling's cut. Still, if you want a nebulizer-based smoker then that's the badger's nadgers IMHO.

I get the feeling that Anthony Kirk is working on a home-grown product anyway, and I gather he has facilities for light engineering which we do not.

To confirm, the items we're aiming to replace are the JJC sound modules.

I believe the problem lies in the electronics board used to supply the nebuliser with 24volt ac from a 12volt dc supply, however the neb will work on 24v dc without too much drop in performance. Try connecting the neb to a 24volt supply and if it works that its not that at fault and then use a small esc to control the fan from a 12v pack which does not have to be very big, there's nothing to lose.

Hi Fella's.

I came here today to seek help repairing my JJC smoker. It looks as though it is not going to be my lucky day.  {:-{

I have a unit that I bought a long time ago, and it was New In Box. I powered it up for the very first time today, and had it set on "Show Mode".

It worked wonderful, and I was thrilled! For about one minute. Then, the fan stopped working. There is no more voltage output going to the fan wiring.

However, I did stumble upon a "band-aid" fix. I found that by jumping two terminals on the circuit board that controls the fan and the smoke making unit, I could get the fan operating again. Perhaps this may be a "fix" for some of you as well.  O0

Have a look at this video, for the details:

1 Minute!!!!!!!  >>:-( >>:-( >>:-(
The original prototype "Foggy" I designed, which is installed as a demo in my tug Canning has now been operating for over 140, (yes 140!!!) hours without any problems and has had no repairs done and no parts replaced!!!! (Yet) ;) ;)

The video at 'Vimeo' seems to not want to be 'processed' after 9 hours.  %)

I have uploaded it to Youtube instead. Sorry about that!
