Airfix Higgins Boat
« on: June 01, 2008, 08:28:31 pm »

Thought I'd post some photos from Wicksteed today.

They show my 1/72nd scale Higgins boat - based on the Airfix kit.

Two channel RC is fitted from a "Micro" radio controlled submarine bought for 99p.

Two thought come to mind...

1. You've made that Airfix kit look good!

2. Good job it wasn't anytime last weekend, Saturday - Heavy seas, Sunday - pass me the bailing bucket! :)

- Worth saying again! The last example I had a hold of had more flash than moulding - a sort of 'sculpt-it-yourself' kit :D

Thanks for the kind words.

I would agree that its certainly not the crispest moulding Airfix have ever produced!

Chinese manufacturing at its finest??

And yes its definitely a fair weather only boat

Hi Steve

I can't remember where exactly - one of the "pound shop" type places.

Thank you - I think it's a bit beyond me at the moment to RC - so am just going to motorise it to trundle round the pond.

 :-) I love this boat, looks as difficult to R/C as my LCM III, just could not make out the words on the ramp, is that NO SMOKING or NO SWIMMING, just cannot tell  :}

Dude with the Mohawk was a nice touch ..... looks like there was a bit of an oil spill prior to the assault landing ...
