Great work (both building the kit, and converting it to RC)! It certainly runs very well for such a small model (though I hope the deck join and especially the forward 20mm gun tub is sealed thoroughly - looks like your S-boat wants to become a U-boat  ;D )

Being (still) mainly a static ship modeller, I can't quite get used to 1/72 being "mini scale" though!

Great video and boat! Who's music is that? Sounded a bit like Jeff Beck.

Thank you both for the kind comments :)

I have no idea who the music is by - It is however from the 'Kill Bill' soundtrack - Lucy Liu makes her grand entrance to this piece <drool>.... :D

Didn't see Kill Bill, not a big Tarantino fan.... but he uses some good tunes.

I have disturbed the crypt of this long, dead thread only to see the pics and video which have long since disappeared.  {:-{

Any chance of reviving them or might they be hosted elsewhere?
Thnx,

Finally got the kit too, coming into my large, greedy hands soon enough and have thus drawn myself back into all things S-100 and Schnellboot-y. Pity about the non-existent photos....

Good news!: It's only 18 inches long….

Bad news!: It's only 18 inches long….

Consequently any wave is substantial at 72nd scale - That said built with care to completely seal from the rear of the skull cap bridge forwards, it is remarkably seaworthy - The furthest I tend to let it go away from me is 75-ish yards, it's at that range that it occurs to you that sea grey and normal eyesight are not a good combination for keeping the boat under observation, let alone under control, especially on grey overcast days when the water reflects the sky to camouflage the boat almost perfectly.

I do have a 1/36 scale S-11 boat that I'm renovating/refurbing, and there's also an Italeri 1/35 S-Boot kit wing it's way to me. You could say I quite like the S-Boot design… ;)

Fantastic. Great to see what was once lost and is now found. Can you by chance restore the construction pics and views of the innards?

Was wondering to myself how difficult it would be, or if it is even feasible to attempt powering all shafts, perhaps with brushless motors.

This guy did it with 1/72 Tamiya PT-15. Guess one has to want it bad enough. http://heliblog.moller-ilsoe.dk/#category11.2
