I need to grease the sharft, but in the included "Assembly Instructions" it dosnt say or show anything todo with the sharft or rudder, dos anyone know a easy way of doing this? Just wanted to ask before i make a hash of it lol, from just lookin at it i cant see a clear easy way to move the rudder  :D

What's to stop you removing the motor and taking the propshaft out from inside the boat?

Got it out, what a work up

the metal cap thing was cross threaded onto the sharft, then i couldnt get the other bit off up the sharft  {-) so i sawed that off too ( didnt wanna risk messin the tube up so took the easy option )

what they have done is... fitted then glued the rudder sharft in place... which has jamed the rudder in so much it cant be lifted at all to get the rudder out  :-\

next thing todo is buy a new sharft hopefully a normal one, and brass or something prop  O0

some pics

Oks back from the shop, they dont have any 3mm shafts which this TT uses ( seems they went all out on odd things with the rtr boats )

silly prop, silly sized shafts  O0

the options the guy at the shop said were....

cut the keel off... then get the shaft out and put in a 4mm one...

or

cut the keel off and try to drill the stock shaft bigger..

or use some 3mm rod and glue the prop to it..

now i really dont wanna cut the keel off :( mainly because it will look proper naff when refitin it  ::) would anyone know somewhere that sells good 3mm shafts? or the thunder tiger ones ( would be a great help  O0 )

all this just to regrease the shaft  {-) happy days lol

Offshore,
SHG sell 4mm shafts with a plastis based  end caps.
You could drill out the inner  bearing and fie out the outer.
With a bit of careful filing of the SHG shaft ends, you could fit them in with a smear of epoxy and use a standard 4mm prop.

There is an alternative, you could reamer out the bearings to 4mm and fit a 4mm shaft.
Such as these:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180249853048&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=008

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160249679302&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006

It might mean bending the rudder a bit to get to the rear bearing though.

Offshore,
Just order the cap ends from SHG £1-00 for 2 and a shaft, much easier to shape a nylon type material, plus if it is a good push fit they can still be changed at a later date.
The 4mm shaft will allow for "standard" size props to be used.
