Video Help please - its sideways
« on: June 11, 2008, 04:56:42 pm »

I have been dragged (kicking and screaming) into the century of the Fruitbat and have taken some video on my still camera.

So far so good, and I can even post it  to photobucket with tolerable success.

But I took some clips with the camers held on its side, so my brig is sailing upward ;D

Does anyone know of a neat way to rotate the whole shebang through 90 degrees?

TIA

Hi Andrew

My wife did exactly the same thing. {-)

You need a video editing programme like Adobe Premier Pro or similar. Upload the clip and then you can rotate the clip as an effect and re-save the result. Another benefit of a programme like this is the ability to increase the size of the video clip,( usually still camera video resolution is well below normal TV),  making it possible to view clips on a TV via DVD.

Without too much hassle I fixed the problem clips O0

Sorry to disagree with you Footski but it CAN be done.

If you use Windows Movie Maker to create your video - ( you will have this programme on your computer as it is included with Windows XP) ( unless of course you have a MAC or are still using W98) ???

Import your video into Movie Maker, drop the video clip onto the "Storyboard" - open Video effects - drag the "rotate 90 degrees" and drop it on the clip on the Storyboard and the job is done. Create the video to wherever you want it and thats it !!

Actually very simple.

Thanks very much to you all;

Mayhemmers (in aggregate) know everything, can do everything and are helpful in sharing it!

I have tried the Movie Maker tip and discovered how to do the rotation (and several other things like adding titles, slowing the film down etc)

So many thanks - I will pass this on to KarenC  so that Mark's footys may sail with the carrier bag at the top!

andrew

When I can get my hands on the right clips they will be posted in the sailing (Volante) area

I've googled but can only find 'pay for' although advertised as free!  >>:-(

I am pretty sure that Radtools "Bink and Smacker" will do the trick for you  - you convert the .mov file into.avi .  Its some time since I used it and I deleted the programme as I only needed it the once so cant check but Google for Radtools and go from there. - Yes its free !
