1:24th scale modern figures
« on: June 20, 2008, 09:53:08 pm »

Im looking for some 1:24th scale modern dressed crew figures for Drumbeat. I think the crew wear civvies so they dont have to be uniformed.

Had a look at George Turner site and they, well, dont seem to be the look I want!

Any other suppliers out there?

Ta!

Hi there

Have a look at the Westbourne Model Centre web site.  They have figures in various scales including 1:24

Some of the railroad model suppliers have what here is called G scale (garden railroading) and in the neighborhood of 1/22 scale. Some are done up in working attire and others in civies, some are also sitting down. Down the model car truck section of the well supplied hobby shop. You will sometimes find the following or some variation of them. They are glue together so some adjustment of pose or posture can be done. or you can use them as base models to adjust dress, and posture and then re cast them, if you need multiples.
The one is by Taymia, and the fire helmets are separate so you don't have to use them on the Revell. They are a number of years old, and may no longer be available. But between the military model kits with the extra troops, and the small plastic solders and others you should find enough to populate your ship.

The last three are from a Fisher Price play toy car set. Found at a yard sale. It is always helpful to have a same size scale reference card with you so you can quickly compare the size in the bag or on the table with what you are longing for.

I am having similar problems trying to find 1:24 scale vehicles circa 1960-1970 ish. Don't mind if they are die-cast or plastic. Hobbys used to do some of them but seem to have been deleted from their latest catalogue.

If anybody can help here, that went to the Birchwood show in August?
On the opposite wall to the entrance door, there was a stall with various bits and bobs, and some scale figures, 1/24th being some. I remember thinking they where very good, and very reasonable, infact I bought some for a friend to modify for his boat.

I should have taken the details of the seller, but forgot, they where on the end, on the right hand side, now we just need someone to know what the contact details are, I do remember that they do not have a website though :((

You may want to run a search for die cast, as over here they are every where in all years and types of cars trucks and others. And in all scales or close to something that should work. But for selection I don't think that a hobby stores auto/military selection can be beat.

Didn't RAF crews wear basically the same uniform as the navy did in their MTB's ?

George Turner does an MTB crew, could be adapted.

I've been looking for the "Campus Friends" kit for ages, but can't find a stockist. Ideas? I would also like to put a couple of motorcycles on the ferry, but all I can find in 1:24 are modern bikes. Somewhere in the dim dark recesses of what used to be my mind I can recall seeing some old Vincents, Nortons etc. More ideas?
However, I've had a lot of success with 1:24 (G) scale figures from "Gaugemaster". Tremendous range of stuff and good delivery. Worth a browse.BY

Not a silly answer, but if you have a Dolls House Shop near you, they have 1\24th figures and accessories, worth a try.........

They were at the Warwickshire show too, they make some excellent figures. I got a couple for my latest tug build. Shame they don't have a website  :((
