Sail boats/Yachts
« on: July 10, 2010, 09:35:14 am »

i have recently got into rc sail boats/yachts etc,
 Anythiing without a motor,
I have done motor boats for many years now and felt a change would bring fresh life into the hobby for me.
now i looked around and have found many great plans online clearly the better ones arn't free but i source of mine came across a site
that has a nice range of regatta and sailing yachts so heres the link if u want to take a look , now its all in french luckly i can speak and read french with no bother
but im sure one of the online translators could help if your not sure on things  >:-o

Heres the link:- http://rg65.free.fr/start.php

I also would like to ask if anyone had any detailed plans of other sail boats yachts with templates etc they could share with me would be greatly appreciated (send me a msg with what you have im happy to pay p&p etc )

The french RG65 link is good but for a straight forward (and free) plan - Traplet have a two part downloadable plan for the Jif65 here http://www.marinemodelmagazine.com/article.aspx?a=3686

Keel bulbs, fittings and sails can be had from here - http://www.pjsails.co.uk/hulls.htm as well a moulded hull for the Puma (jif2)

I sail a Jif65 at Kingsbury Water Part in the Midlands where we have a small but growing fleet of RG65s

well i have decided what kind of yacht i am going to scratch build looking at the 1m class WHIRLWIND in a plank on frame.

similar to the picture shown:- (click for expanded view)

while im a newbiee to sailing i have also purchaced the surmount 800 racing yacht to get to grips with handing a similar size yacht ( yet again another purchase from Howes Models, great service and well... prices are just right too) has anyone else sailed one of these or owned one? Any pointers would be great or any tips on mods to it (cos rtr kits are not always perfect outta the box) would be much appreciated, watch for future posts on my build i will try to document as much as i can.
