HMS CAMBELTOWN

Thinking of building a revell HMS Cambeltown (scale 1-240) and wonder if anyone else has built one and converted it to Radio Control?  If so what equipment did they put into it?

Now there is a brave man.
All I can say is ballast her deep and use something like lead flashing along her keel.
keep the topweight to an absolure mimimum.
Oh yes, and good luck.
Deans marine use servos for motive power and speed control.
I have used it once but cant remember exactly how to do it now.

On my 1/200 scale Russian Destroyer I used 2 x large servo motors (they were sitting in my local model shop).
2mm graupner shafts with sleeved kit "A" frames and scale prop shop props.
On 7.2 volts she flew, but 6 volts would be enough. IE 4 x AA cells.
ACTion micro ESC's.

Once you've sorted out the mechanical side, get hold of the "Anatomy of the Ship" for HMS Campbeltown. There are many inaccuracies in this kit.

If you're building the kit as Campbeltown (or any other Town-class) as an early-war convoy escort, the inaccuracies in the kit are small enough to not be noticeable on the water (it's only about a foot and a half long).
However, if you're planning to build it as Campbeltown converted for the St. Nazaire raid, a lot of conversion work will be needed - as Jonty says, the Anatomy of the Ship book is by far your best bet for reference material, and it's quite cheap + readily available at the minute I think.
