Another nice shot
« on: July 02, 2008, 01:07:32 pm »

Another nice shot of a boat in action.

This is the caption:

Cooperation between Dubai’s Grandweld and the France’s Bourbon Offshore has led to the delivery of a powerful new crewboat. Registered in St. Vincent and the Grenadines the M/V Bourbon Axelle is expected to work in Nigeria.

Designed by C&G Boats of Mobile Alabama the boat has the same propulsion package that was used for the 165-foot M/V Alioth launched in late 2007 by C&G for Rigon . The Grandweld vessel is also 165x29 feet with a molded depth of 14 feet. The engines are four Cummins KTA50M2 diesels delivering 1800 hp each to AZF4650 gears with 3.04:1 ratios. The four 54x53-inch propellers are mounted on 22-foot long five-inch shafts.

A 270 HP Cummins 6CTA-8.3D (M) engine powers the bow thrusters while the gensets are powered by 122 hp Cummins 6BT5.9-D(M) engines. The boat has capacity for 19 tons of fuel in each of six tanks and 50,000 US gallons of water in 12 tanks. Deck cargo will be approximately 150 tons. The vessel is also equipped with a rescue boat. Delivered to her owners on May 14, the M/V Bourbon Axelle will carry 12 crewmembers and up to 82 offshore personnel.

I was looking on Flickr yesterday and found a truely stunning set of "at sea" photos.

Have a look at Jan Berghuis Collection:
