Launch with Confidence!
« on: July 10, 2008, 01:05:10 am »

Through the years, I have always wanted to do this with one of my projects.
I thought perhaps a Coast Guard Life boat, and most recently RNLI life boats(good looking boats).

However the Springer has become the first to reached the peak in level for confidence in launching.

I used to launch my one meter yacht like that, but a bit more pointy end first.

I think she has invented a new sport to rank with haggis hurling, welly boot tossing, cow-pat throwing and cheese rolling.  All serious "sports" in the UK.  The Springer Hurl , has a nice ring to it O0

That might even catch on.
Would love to see a 5 foot plus warship launched that way.
Only as long as it wasnt one of mine though!!!

Some things have to be done to wake up the modelers in the lawn chairs..  ;)

Didn't imagine it becoming a sport competition though...

OOh nice! He has some good momentum... beautiful!

That was a one and a half , 360 twist with a stern first entry!
It had some really nice hang time at the top of the throw... Lets look at the replay...

Look at THAT!,... the Bow is straight up and the hull absolutely vertical at the top of that arc...

Gotta keep the fun in model boating.  8)

We used to launch a 100cm destroyer that way.. but it was a hollow target hull and anchor.

Perfect for your 10 ft Prinz Eugen Bob. Stick it on the roof rack, accelerate gently to 60mph and slam on the brakes just as you get to the pondside. Beautiful launch parabola and satisfying splash. Who knows, you may even follow it yourself!

How much water was in there afterwards?

You launch a sailing boat by simply lobbing it into the lake, it always ends up the right way, Thats what the keel is for O0

Nope that was HMS Sprub , a Clyde built hull in glassfibre by Norry of that Parish.   Superstructure and fitting out  by Grannies Wee Northern Heelan Boat Werft (she fraternised with German POWs during WW1)  Top secret mission of Red Oktober to a submarine love-in in Koln (edit , it is Cologne gran !) and a press release is due from our friend in Holland (sorry Gran), the Netherlands, as soon as the signal arrives.  Strong headwinds over North Sea may delay messenger.  (Photo shows difference in types.)
