EDIT: okay, seems i can't run it (the Mac versionIntel-based processors) but i still have some ideas. Im assuming you know how to work a digital camera, because frankly I'm terrible at it. If you don't have enough light, try using a tripod and a slower exposure. Once you have your photos on your computer and are working with them in your image-processing software (Picasa 3 in your case) try and set them to 150 dpi and between 600-800 pixels in width, and make sure 'Constrain Proportions' option is checked (this keeps the height/width ratio the same).
